Fall Clean Up is a wonderful opportunity for CSU students & staff to help Fort Collins neighbors in need.
The program is aimed at assisting elderly and/or physically limited neighbors in the Fort Collins area with outdoor yard work (raking leaves, trimming bushes, cleaning gutters, etc.) that they cannot complete themselves and cannot afford to pay someone to do. This program helps facilitate positive relations between the long-term residents in Fort Collins and CSU students and staff, while also helping the neighbors to maintain their properties and get their homes ready for the fall/winter seasons.
Fall Clean Up was started in 2005 and has been growing ever since. In 2005 there were 24 neighbors helped by just over 50 student volunteers. In 2017, over 1,893 volunteers helped 361 elderly and/or physically limited neighbors. Additionally, in 2009 leaf pick-up was added to the program at many long-term neighbors' request. The Fall Clean Up program was happy to provide a much needed service for the neighbors, who were left with numerous bags of leaves and no way to dispose of them. Today, CSU partners with students, staff and local faith-based organizations to collect all bags of leaves filled as a result of the program and take them to a composting/recycle center. See if your project meets the leaf pick-up guidelines. In 2017, 3,905 bags of leaves were collected and composted!
Our 13th Annual Fall Clean Up is over!
This was a record breaking year for us and we'd like to thank all of our volunteers as well as our donors. Without the help from Ace Hardware, Joseph's Hardware and Home Supply, Pizza Casbah, Pickle Barrel, and Chipotle, this year wouldn't have been as successful.
Stay tuned for 2018 event information!
