Fall Clean Up

This year, due to COVID-19, the annual Fall Clean Up program will not be held.
We understand that the cancellation of this program may create a hardship for some in our community. We have pulled together several resources and agencies that may be able to help fill the gap and assist you with your outdoor yard work this year. We recommend you contact the agencies in the order they are listed. Unfortunately, we do not have volunteering opportunities either with the cancellation of this program, but the resources below may be in need of volunteers.

We are hopeful that we will be able to host our Fall Clean Up program again next year.

You can also sign up through Neighborhood Services by calling (970) 224-6046

A Little Help connects neighbors to help older adults age at home and in community. We hope that this opportunity will be the beginning of a relationship connecting you with volunteers offering “a little help” around the house as well as social and educational events. For more information on connecting or membership with A Little Help, email them or call them at (970) 412-9396.

Volunteers from Faith Church will only be able to help with leaf raking for those elderly and/or physically limited residents who are unable to do the work themselves and cannot afford to pay for the work.

To request assistance, email Brad Jensen or Jamie Murray, or call them at (970) 226-2095.

Fall Clean Up is an opportunity for CSU students & staff to help Fort Collins neighbors in need.

The program is aimed at assisting elderly and/or physically limited neighbors in the Fort Collins area with outdoor yard work (raking leaves, trimming bushes, cleaning gutters, etc.) that they cannot complete themselves and cannot afford to pay someone to do. This program helps facilitate positive relations between the long-term residents in Fort Collins and CSU students and staff, while also helping the neighbors to maintain their properties and get their homes ready for the fall/winter seasons.

Fall Clean Up was started in 2005 and has been growing ever since. In 2005 there were 24 neighbors helped by just over 50 student volunteers. In 2018, over 2,000 volunteers helped over 300 elderly and/or physically limited neighbors. Additionally, in 2009 leaf pick-up was added to the program at many long-term neighbors’ request. The Fall Clean Up program was happy to provide a much needed service for the neighbors, who were left with numerous bags of leaves and no way to dispose of them. Today, CSU partners with students, staff and local faith-based organizations to collect all bags of leaves filled as a result of the program and take them to a composting/recycle center. See if your project meets the leaf pick-up guidelines. In 2018, nearly 5,000 bags of leaves were collected and composted!
