RamRide’s Renaissance

Hey Rams!

Are you passionate about giving back to the community and looking for an opportunity to make a positive impact while also benefiting your student organization financially? Look no further! RamRide, an initiative that provides safe rides for students, offers an exciting opportunity for student groups to volunteer and earn funds for their activities. In this blog post, we’ll guide you through the process of registering, volunteering, and receiving financial rewards for your dedicated efforts.

1. Registration Process:
The first step towards participating in this unique opportunity is designating a group leader to register your student organization for a volunteer night. The registration process is simple and can be done through the RamRide website. As a group, you have the flexibility to choose between providing 16 volunteers on a single night and receiving $500 or opting for 30 volunteers on a single night to receive $1000.

2. Confirmation and Contract Signing:
After successfully registering, the RamRide team will promptly confirm your registration. Following this confirmation, your group leader will have one week to sign a contract at the Off-Campus Life office, conveniently located at the Lory Student Center in room 281. This step ensures that both parties are on the same page regarding the terms of the volunteer agreement.

3. Document Submission:
Once the contract is signed, your group volunteers must submit the required documents online by the Tuesday before the scheduled volunteer date. These documents include a clear photo of each volunteer’s RamCard and a clear photo of their driver’s license. It’s important to note that volunteers must have owned their driver’s licenses for at least one year.

4. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Check:
Following the document submission, RamRide conducts a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Check, essentially a background check on the volunteers’ driving history. This step is crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of the volunteers for insurance purposes. The MVR check takes a few days to process.

5. Volunteer Night:
Once the MVR checks are completed, your group is ready to hit the road on your designated volunteer night(s). This is the time to showcase your commitment to community service and responsible driving.

6. Fund Deposit:
Upon fulfilling your volunteer commitment, RamRide will deposit the agreed-upon funds into the Student Organization Financial Account (“SOFA”) provided during registration. Please note that funds may take 1-2 weeks to reflect in the account. If you have any questions specific to your SOFA account, please reach out to SLICE.

Volunteering with RamRide allows your student organization to impact the community positively, it also provides a unique opportunity to earn funds for your activities. By following the simple steps outlined in this blog post, you can contribute to a safer community and enhance your organization’s financial resources. So, gear up, register, and drive change with RamRide!
