Community Welcome Coming Up
By: Sophie Emerson
Hey, y’all! Community Welcome is on its way! On Wednesday, August 23rd from 4 pm to 9 pm, volunteers will go door-to-door to distribute brochures that have valuable information about city ordinances and university expectations for students. Volunteers consist of city and student employees, and Fort Collins and CSU police. This is one of the many events occurring as school is starting to help students settle into their community. As stated on our website, “The goal of the program is to help foster a sense of community and connection between students and long-term Fort Collins residents.”
The information in the brochure can help give you guidance such as how to avoid noise citations, how to be a good neighbor, and ordinances about parking on the street, having pets, outdoor storage, snow removal, rental standards, alcohol, riots, noise, and marijuana. The brochure also highlights Off-Campus Life’s programs, such as Party Registration, RamRide, and Rental Search. It also has tips on planning when you are going to be downtown after dark and all transportation options in Fort Collins with hours of operation.
So, if you end up seeing us dropping off a brochure at your house, feel free to come say hi and talk to us about any questions you may have about your community! You can also sign up to be a volunteer on our website and work with us to get the brochures out to the community. We hope that this event helps to build a better relationship for you with your neighbors and the rest of your community.
