Community Welcome

While everyone is away for summer, we are already thinking of when we get to welcome all the students back to CSU. Every year, Off-Campus Life and Neighborhood Services host an event called Community Welcome where we get to go out in the community with other students and get to know our neighbors. By going door-to-door and delivering brochures with crucial information, it helps get students out in the community to kick off the school year and helps our long-term residents meet the students that reside in their neighborhood.
The brochures that we pass out are an all-encompassing guide to living in Fort Collins. They include information about being a good neighbor, parking, pets, city codes and ordinances, party registration, public transportation, and more. With a new design and updated information every year, these brochures help to keep residents informed about the goings-on in Fort Collins. While covering a variety of topics, the event will also allow for City and University staff to answer any questions people have about the upcoming year with the end of the U+2 occupancy ordinance.
The goal of Community Welcome is to connect the Fort Collins community and CSU students before the school year starts. It can be hard for students and long-term residents to get to know each other. Community Welcome allows for student volunteers to go out into neighborhoods and foster a sense of community. This event would not be possible without our amazing volunteers and the people who work at the City of Fort Collins. This year, Community Welcome will take place on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024, from 4:30-8:30 pm.
