Election Day Blog

With election day just around the corner, you may be feeling some added stress in your day-to-day life. It is important to stay connected and informed about local and federal elections, but it is also important to take care of yourself. By taking steps to prepare for election day, it may help cut down on stress. One aspect is to plan ahead for election day. Knowing your voting plan will get rid of uncertainty and misinformation about timelines. At this point, all absentee and mail-in ballots are closed, but in-person voting is available on campus and throughout the community. There is a Colorado ballot dropbox located outside the north entrance of the Lory Student Center and an in-person voting center at the LSC’s Never No Summer (Nii-cii-biicei’i) room.
If you need other options, visit Just Vote Colorado to find drop boxes and Voter Service and Polling Centers here.
Additionally, trying to stay active and knowing when to disconnect from media can help relieve some stress. When you are consuming media, choosing reputable sources can also help prevent an overwhelming influx of misinformation coming through. Regardless of the election outcome, make sure to take care of yourself and plan an activity you enjoy such as spending time with friends and/or family, cooking your favorite meal, or watching a comfort show.
If you’re able, remember to get out there and vote in your local and federal elections! It is extremely important and if you do, recognize the importance of participating in democracy and be proud that you played your part.
