Top 5 pizza joints in Fort Collins from the perspective of a CSU grad.

Living off-campus can be tough sometimes, especially when you have to feed yourself and ramen just isn’t cutting it anymore. Thankfully, if you find yourself craving pizza, here are my rankings of the best local pizza joints around town.

#5: Pizza Casbah

Pizza Casbah is number five on the list for many reasons, but the main downside is that it just simply isn’t anything to write home about. It is just your regular New York-style pizza without any special flare to set it apart from all of the others. To be fair, however, it is still leagues above the chain pizza restaurants around town and the price is hard to beat. That being said, when it comes to pizza, you get what you pay for.

#4: Cosmo’s

Cosmo’s is well known as the pizza place for drunk people. It stays open until 12:00 am which gives people returning home from parties one of the only places to eat at that hour. There are also very limited options for being a “by the slice” pizzeria unless you want to wait around half an hour for them to make you a fresh pie. The slices are admittedly a good bang for your buck and the spicy ranch is a treat but try going there before the sun sets and you will be thoroughly disappointed.

#3: Beau Jo’s

Beau Jo’s gets a lot of hype for being “Colorado Style Pizza ”. This simply means it’s overpriced and 50% of the pizza is crust. The atmosphere is extremely inviting and the little pizza that you do get with toppings on it is some of the best, most flavorful pizza that I have ever tried. But that is not enough to excuse the fact that you’re paying a small fortune to mostly dip some bread in honey.

#2: Slyce

Now we are getting into the heavy hitters of Fort Collins pizza. Slyce is another “by the slice” style pizzeria. Compared to Cosmo’s, however, they offer an incredible line-up of unique toppings that I still haven’t tried them all. If you want macaroni and cheese on your pizza, you got it! If you’re looking for pizza with chicken tenders smothered in barbeque sauce and ranch, look no further! Slyce has nearly every combination imaginable. In the end, however, Slyce doesn’t take the number one spot on this list for two reasons; It is pricey, especially for the sizes of pizzas they sell. And, they don’t bake cream cheese balls into all of their pizzas.

#1: Krazy Karls

I’m sure you guessed by now. My number one pick for the best pizza place in Fort Collins is Krazy Karl’s. There really are no downsides to Krazy Karl’s other than how busy it can get, especially on “Beat the Clock” Fridays, where whatever time you call between 5-8 pm is what you pay for a large pizza. The atmosphere of Krazy Karls is top-notch as well. It really buys into being a CSU pizzeria with the decorations all around the restaurant, the local beer selection, and plenty of tv’s to watch the game. On top of that, all of their special pizzas have cream cheese balls baked into their pizza. If you haven’t tried it and think that sounds off-putting, give it a shot and I promise that you will be pleasantly surprised by how much of a game-changer cream cheese pizza can be.

Well, there you have it. My five favorite Fort Collins pizza places ranked from worst to best. Do you agree with this list? If not, we’d love to hear your rankings too!
