Living and Moving Off-Campus

The City of Fort Collins and Colorado State University are partners in the effort to build community and create a positive environment in neighborhoods where non-student residents and students live in close proximity. The University and City jointly fund the Community Liaison Programs position to take the lead on implementing programs to enhance relations between neighbors and students.

We offer students planning to move off campus for the first time an opportunity to get the information they need with regard to their housing options, rights and responsibilities off campus, and resources available to them as off-campus residents. Residence Hall presentations happen on an annual basis.

Off-Campus Life Student Handbook:  Avoiding Sticky Situations

This handbook has been created to help you make a successful transition in your move, whether you currently live in the residence halls or already live off campus. This guide covers topics such as:  where to find a place, managing a budget, good neighboring tips and being aware of city codes and ordinances that impact students (noise, occupancy limit, nuisance gathering, parking, snow shoveling, etc.)  Additionally, you will be provided with important tips on leasing, parties, and healthy roommating.
